As admissions for 2022–2023 begin, the education minister warns universities against allowing students to enroll in programs that are not allowed.
Institutions that provide unauthorized entry during the 2021 and 2022 exercises would face harsh punishment, according to Adamu.
He said this at the Abuja policy meeting on 2022 tertiary institution admissions in Nigeria

According to the minister, students who were admitted illegally between 2017 and 2020 will be excused as long as they complete the requirements for entry into their chosen fields of study.
“We introduced the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) in 2017 to eliminate the prehistoric activities around admission procedures toward nullifying transparency and admissions accountability,” claims Adamu.
“On this point, it was mandated that all tertiary institution admissions in Nigeria be handled through the CAPS.
This indicates that, in accordance with its enabling statute, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board must process all applications for regular and non-regular admissions to tertiary institutions.
I am aware that JAMB publishes particular advisories to direct various steps in the procedure. Therefore, in the interest of the sector, I kindly request that every Institution abide by these advice. Part of the statement is read.
