The Academic Staff Union of Universities is now on strike, and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has asked for the immediate dismissal of Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu (ASUU).
NANS demands that the education minister be fired.
In a statement on Wednesday, NANS President Sunday Asefon urged President Muhammadu Buhari to fire Adamu for his “gross incompetence.”
Considering that ASUU has been on strike for at least 18 months, the NANS president charged that the Minister lacked empathy and sympathy for Nigerian students.

“This development puts into doubt his eligibility to be chosen as minister of education in the first place,” the statement adds. His complete lack of sympathy and understanding for the suffering of Nigerian students says a lot.
Since he was appointed minister, ASUU has been on strike for about 18 months in total, and under his leadership, the entire tertiary education system is in complete disarray. Part of the statement is read.
Remember that ASUU on Monday prolonged its four-week strike that began on February 14 because the Federal Government has not complied.
